Packing List for visiting Casa de Sueno
Everyone's needs will be a little bit different depending on what you plan to do on vacation, but this packing list should help you get ready for your trip. We really have attempted to provide all but the most personal of items to make packing for your trip easy-peezy!
All linens and towels are provided and we have lots of tote bags and pool floats for you to enjoy. WalMart in Playa also has a good selection of beach toys for the kids to save packing space. There is also at least one hair dryer in the condo, usually two.
We hope you have a wonderful vacation in Playa! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
- Be sure and have with you on the plane your passports, a pen for filling out documentation on the plane, directions to the condo (I will email those to you before your trip) and a copy of the transportation FAQs to help you get through the airport upon arrival and find your transportation.
- At least 2 swimsuits and coverups. Although most ladies won't be able to resist buying a pareo to wear on the beach and take home!
- Casual clothes - nothing dressier than a sundress is necessary unless you have specific plans for a fancy night out; certainly jackets are not needed for men but a nice pair of khakis and a short sleeved button shirt might be nice to have with you.
- Light sweater or jacket if traveling during winter for cool nights, or during the fall to escape a quick rain shower
- Shoes - something for the beach and good walking shoes or sandals - you will have a hard time walking on the cobblestones in heels, and you won't need them anyway. I find that having a few changes of shoes helps keep the blisters away. But I also keep Blistec's blister aid on hand - it works great.
- Camera and video equipment plus chargers
- Sunscreen - you can buy some there but you will pay through the nose for it. Purchase and use only biodegradable sunscreen to wear when snorkeling or visiting any of the parks - help us protect our reefs and wildlife!
- Bugspray - if you are a bug magnet, this is also very expensive to buy in Mexico. We don't see many mosquitoes at the condo, but you may find them occasionally at dusk in outdoor restaurants. Currently there is the threat of the Zika virus and Dengue fever, so it is a good idea to protect yourself against bugs.
- Sunglasses, visor or hat
- Basic emergency kit (bandaids, Immodium AD, Pepto, Tylenol) and prescription medications in their original containers (do not take medicines with codeine or pseudo ephedrine like Sudafed, you can get into trouble with these at the airport!)
- Rain umbrellas - we try to keep a supply for you, but they tend to disappear so you might want to pack a small one if rain is in the forecast
- Snorkel equipment and t-shirts to avoid too much sun on your back while snorkeling. We actually use Armour long-sleeved shirts for this purpose - they dry quickly and block the sun. Note: there are a couple of sets of snorkels and masks in the condo that you may use, but we do not have fins. Snorkel equipment can be rented in town at any of the dive shops if you don't want to bring your own.
- Books, DVDs (there are some movies and books in the condo, but you may want to bring your own)
- Large ziplock bags are great for storing wet gear and also for opened snacks
- Your Bluetooth enabled devices for music with our speakers
- Laptop or IPad with chargers (there is a surge protector in the laundry room to use for charging these)
- Peanut butter if you are traveling with kids who must have peanut butter sandwiches - this can be hard to find in Playa
- Do not bring beach towels and tote bags- there are plenty provided for you
